Emily Says
No one wants to die, Its hard wired into our thinking so deep that you don’t even know where it comes from. as a species we are learning how to extend our lives although it less clear why. Emily’s story unfolds in the garden of a space station in orbit around Earth at some time in the not so distant future…

The gardens were peaceful and a cool breeze was meandering through the landscape. A bird chirped from it’s vantage point in a nearby tree though the sky was as black as night. Emily sighed, then looked up at the serene planet above her. Sweeping the surface with perfect eyes, she saw nothing but beauty. It was a humbling experience.
Emily had been held unconscious for a little over six weeks since the operation, and had been contacted from Earth as soon as safe communication was possible. Regeneration licences were hard to come by, and a very expensive molecular hacker had forged this one. Caution would always be advisable.
In a way it was a chance for both of them to begin again, though the Earth bound Emily would only be able to share the experience in a canned and fragmented way as and when she was able to keep in touch with herself. But that would be enough. At age 214, waking up to another day was all the excitement she needed.
She shivered in the cooling air and turned to make her way back to her room. Her limbs were easy to control, but the sensations they gave her were numerous and distinct. In time she would get used to all of this – at least that’s what Emily says.
